Description:

Patients: There were a total of 13 patients in this study comprised of six patients with glioblastoma, one patient with anaplastic astrocytoma and six patients with other metastatic brain tumors.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of intracavitary chemotherapy with 5-fluoro-2'-deoxyuridine (FdUrd, FUDR). (Two patients also received radiotherapy.) FdUrd is a 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) derivative.

Toxicity: No side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, convulsive attack or bone marrow suppression were observed in any of the patients.

Results: The overall response rate was 46.2%. Survival was not discussed.
