Description:

Patients: This Phase I study involved 15 patients with metastatic melanoma.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of a biological therapy - pegylated arginine deiminase used to lower plasma arginine.

Toxicity: There were no grade 3-4 toxicities directly attributable to the drug. Grade 1-2 toxicities included: hypotension and clinical laboratory abnormalities.

Results: There were no responses and overall survival was not reported.

Support: Several of the authors were employed by Phoenix Pharmacologics. Pegylated arginine deiminase (Hepacid) is made by Phoenix Pharmacologics.
