Description:

Patients: This phase I study involved 26 patients with advanced solid tissue cancers, including colorectal (6), ovarian (4), and breast (4). All patients had received treatment before the study, and twenty of the patients were 50 years of age or older.

Treatment: The treatment involved one chemotherapeutic agent: ixabepilone.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included: neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and fatigue.

Results: No overall survival was determined and no responses were reported. The authors commented, "Prolonged disease stabilization was observed in patients with mesothelioma, ovarian carcinoma, and renal cell carcinoma."
