Description:

Patients: This Phase I study involved 27 patients of which 25 had advanced colorectal cancer.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of antibody-directed enzyme prodrug therapy (ADEPT) in which a prodrug (bis-iodo phenol mustard, ZD2767P) is activated selectively at the tumour site by an enzyme, which has been targeted to the tumour by an antibody (antibody-enzyme conjugate).

Toxicity: Patients in this maximum tolerated dose study experienced grade 4 thrombocytopenia. Other toxicities included neutropenia, leucopenia, nausea, malaise, and fever.

Results:
There were no objective responses in this study.
