Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 16 patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme. (One ineligible patient was excluded from efficacy evaluation.)

Treatment: Treatment consisted of the administration of XR5000. (XR5000, a tricyclic carboxamide, is a chemotherapeutic agent that intercalates DNA and inhibits both topoisomerase I and II.)

Toxicity: Toxicities included: chest pain (grade 3), constipation (grade 3), neutropenia (grade 3), fever (grade 4), shivers (grade 3), axillary thrombosis (grade 3), and “cancer pain” (grade 3).

Results: There were no objective responses.
