Description:

Patients: This phase II study involved 21 patients with advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. They had all received treatment for their cancer before entering this study. There were 15 men and 6 women, ranging in age from 42 to 75 years old.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drug plitidepsin.

Toxicity: Grade 3 toxicities included pneumonia, pulmonary edema, dyspnea (shortness of breath), hypersensitivity (allergic reaction), hypertension, and partial seizures. Grade 3 anemia was reported in one patient. No patient experienced leucopenia or neutropenia of any grade.

Results: The median overall survival was 4.3 months.
