Description:

Patients: This Phase I study involved 9 patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of escalating doses of intratumoral bleomycin (blenoxane). The chemotherapy drug bleomycin (blenoxane) was introduced directly into the brain using a modified Ommaya reservoir.

Toxicity: Toxicities included: headaches, somnolence, seizures, skin ulcers, and lethargy. Toxicity grades were not discussed.

Results: The median survival was 6.0 months.
