Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 22 advanced urothelial carcinoma patients who had received one prior chemotherapy regimen. The median patient age was 66 years and 14 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent sorafenib, which is a kinase inhibitor that interferes with cancer cell growth.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included pulmonary embolism. Grade 3 hand-foot skin reaction and fatigue were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 6.8 months.
