Description:

Patients:
This study involved 25 patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma who had not received prior chemotherapy. Of these, 22 were male, and the median age was 61 years.

Treatment:
Patients in this study were given a combination of cisplatin and pemetrexed, which are chemotherapy agents.

Toxicity:
There was one treatment-related death due to worsening of pre-existing pneumonia in this study. Other reported adverse events due to treatment included leukopenia, nausea, and anorexia.

Results:
The reported median overall survival was 7.3 months.
