Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 22 patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme. All patients had received radiotherapy, but only 2 had received prior chemotherapy.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs - temozolomide (temodar) and Caelyx (liposomal doxorubicin - Doxil).

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included: thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, rash/dry skin, palmar-plantar changes, nausea/vomiting, reaction to Caelyx, and lethargy.

Results: Median overall survival was 8.2 months.
