Description:

Patients: This Phase I study involved 30 patients with inoperable advanced (stage IIIB or IV) non-small cell lung cancer. No patients had been administered prior chemotherapy.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of administration of three drugs, topotecan (hycamtin), cisplatin (platinol), and gemcitabine (gemzar).

Toxicity: Toxicity included hematological (grade 3-4) and alopecia.

Results: Median overall survival was 38 weeks (8.8 months).

Support: The study was supported by GlaxoSmithKline and one of the study’s authors is associated with GlaxoSmithKline.
