Description:

Patients: This study involved 45 women with advanced, previously treated ovarian cancer. The median age was 60, ranging from 39-82 years old. The majority (89%) had stage III disease, the others had stage IV.

Treatment: These patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs topotecan and paclitaxel.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 neutropenia occurred in 5 patients (11%). Anemia occurred in 10 patients and thrombocytopenia in 3 (grade 1-2). Grade 3 alopecia occurred in 16 women. Other Grade 1-2 toxicities were nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, neurosensory, muscular pain and asthenia.

Results: The median overall survival was 9 months, ranging from 2 to more than 24 months.
