Description:

Patients:
This study involved 10 HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer patients with a median age of 46.5 years. One patient was male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with high dose chemotherapy (HDC; with cyclophosphamide, carmustine, and thiotepa) immune therapy with autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, the chemotherapy agent paclitaxel, and the biologic therapy agent trastuzumab.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were grade 4 neutropenia and thrombocytopenia. Grade 3 infection, nausea, and cardiac toxicity were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 31.4 months.
