Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 41 recurrent glioblastoma patients with a median age of 55 years; 73% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with surgery and immunotherapy with the heat shock protein peptide complex-96 (HSPPC-9) vaccine, which can help the immune system target tumor cells.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to thrombocytopenia and subdural hematoma. Grade 3-4 fatigue, leukopenia, and neurological toxicities were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 9.8 months.
