Description:

Patients:
This study involved 25 small-cell lung cancer patients who were in their second line of therapy after failing to respond to or progressed after prior treatment. The median age of the group was 62 years and 84% were male.

Treatment:
Patients in this study were administered a chemotherapy agent called belotecan, which blocks cancer cell growth by inhibiting DNA replication.

Toxicities:
The highest reported level of toxicity was grade 4, which was most commonly neutropenia (60% of patients). Grade 2 alopecia, anorexia, and fatigue were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival reported for this study was 9.9 months.
