Description:

Patients: This phase II study involved 26 women with advanced ovarian cancer. Their median age was 77, ranging from 70 to 84 years of age. They had not received any prior treatment for their ovarian cancer.

Treatment: These women were treated with the chemotherapy drugs paclitaxel and carboplatin.

Toxicity: One patient experienced grade 4 neutropenia, and five patients experienced grade 3 neutropenia. Other grade 3 toxicities were leucopenia, low platelet levels, abnormal heart rhythm, and liver enzymes.

Results: The median overall survival was 32 months.
