Description:

Patients: This phase 3 study involved 80 patients with metastatic or advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer. There were similar numbers of men (53% of patients) and women (47%) in this study. The median age was 63, ranging from 42 to 83 years of age.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs carboplatin and docetaxel and the biological therapy cetuximab. After finishing the treatment with carboplatin and docetaxel, some patients continued to be treated with cetuximab.

Toxicity: Grade 4 neutropenia was reported in 13 patients, and there was one report each of grade 4 thrombocytopenia, nausea, vomiting, motor neuropathy, and hypomagnesemia.

Results: The median overall survival was 10.3 months.
