Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 144 metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients who had received prior chemotherapy. The median patient age was 65 years.

Treatment:
Patients received biologic therapy with cabozantinib, a receptor tyrosine kinases inhibitor that interferes with cancer cell growth.

Toxicities:
There was one reported treatment-related death due to liver failure. Grade 3-4 fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, back pain, and anemia were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 10.8 months.
