Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 30 metastatic colorectal cancer patients (mCRC) who were resistant to previous irinotecan, oxaliplatin, and fluoropyrimidine treatment. The median patient age was 61 years and 19 of the patients were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agent irinotecan and the biologic therapy agent cetuximab, which is a monoclonal antibody that targets cancer cells to be killed by the immune system.

Toxicities:
There was 1 treatment-related death due to pneumonia reported in this study. Grade 3/4 neutropenia, diarrhea, and skin toxicities were also reported.

Results:
The reported median overall survival was 10.8 months.
