Description:

Patients: This Phase III study involved 272 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. 214 patients were men, and 58 were women. The median age was 63 years. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups. Group B had 135 patients (110 men, 25 women).

Treatment: Group B received two chemotherapeutic drugs: gemcitabine and cisplatin.

Toxicities: In Group B, grade 3-4 toxicities included neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, fever, nausea/vomiting, and anemia.

Results: For each group, the median overall survival was 11 months.
