Description:

Patients: This Phase I/II study involved 65 patients with advanced (stage IIIA, IIIB, or IV) non-small cell lung cancer. None of the patients had received prior chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of three drugs – gemcitabine (gemzar), vinorelbine (navelbine), and cisplatin (platinol).

Toxicity: There was one toxic death (in the phase I period) from grade 4 netropenia associated with pneumonia. Other events included grade 1-4 hematologic toxicities, and grade 1-3 nausea/vomiting, alopecia, stomatitis, and hepatic.

Results: Overall median survival was 11 months.
