Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 24 metastatic uveal melanoma patients. The median patient age was 61 years and 50% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents carboplatin and paclitaxel, as well as the biologic therapy agent sorafenib.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included neutropenia and leukopenia. Grade 3 nerve toxicity, rash, and diarrhea were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 11 months.
