Description:

Patients:
This phase 3 study involved platinum-sensitive, recurrent ovarian cancer patients who were divided into two separate treatment groups. Group A had 131 patients with a median age of 60 years, and group B had 128 patients with a median age of 63 years.

Treatment:
Patients in group A received chemotherapy with carboplatin and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD).

Patients in group B received chemotherapy with carboplatin and paclitaxel.

Toxicities:
Treatment-related deaths due to infection and brain hemorrhage were reported for this study. Grade 3-4 fatigue, thrombocytopenia, and hand-foot skin reaction were also reported for group A.

Treatment-related deaths due to infection and brain hemorrhage were reported for this study. Grade 3-4 leucopenia and grade 2 alopecia were also reported for group B.

Results:
The median overall survival times for groups A and B were 40.2 and 43.9 months, respectively.
