Description:

Patients: This Phase II trial involved 140 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs – capecitabine (xeloda) and irinotecan (camptosar).

Toxicity: There were 5 deaths associated with the treatment – myocardial infection (2 patients), gastrointestinal syndrome (1 patient), and cerebrovascular accident (2 patients). Grade 3-4 toxicities included: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, asthenia, and hand-foot syndrome.

Results: Overall survival was not discussed.
