Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved 32 women with recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer. The median age was 56, ranging from 42 to 82 years of age. Most had one previous chemotherapy treatment, the rest had received two previous treatment regimens.

Treatment: These women were treated with two chemotherapy drugs, carboplatin and doxorubicin. The doxorubicin used in this study is in a certain form that influences how it stays in the body, called distearoylphosphatidylcholine pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (Lipo-Dox).

Toxicity: The most common grade 3 or 4 toxicities were anemia and vomiting. Two patients each experienced grade 3 or 4 leucopenia and thrombocytopenia.

Results: The median overall survival was 27.9 months.
