Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved advanced or metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer patients who were divided into two separate treatment groups. Group A had 43 patients with a median age of 65 years and 48.8% male. Group B had 45 patients with a median age of 65 years and 62.2% male.

Treatment:
Patients in group A were treated with the chemotherapy agents cisplatin and docetaxel.

Patients in group B were treated with the chemotherapy agents oxaliplatin and docetaxel.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities in group A were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 alopecia (76.4% of patients), neutropenia (55.8%), and infection (25.6%).

The most severe toxicities in group B were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 alopecia (27.3% of patients), neutropenia (27.3%), and nausea (22.7%).

Results:
The median overall survival for groups A and B was 11.6 and 7.0 months, respectively.
