Description:

Patients: This study involved 27 women with metastatic breast cancer. Their median age was 57, ranging from 37 to 76 years. They had all been previously treated with anthracycline and taxanes.

Treatment: These women were treated with the chemotherapy drugs gemcitabine and cisplatin.

Toxicity: Grade 3 or 4 neutropenia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and constipation were reported, each in 4 or fewer patients. Grade 1 and 2 toxicities were more common, and included the same type of toxicities that occurred more severely (grade 3 and 4). Other grade 1 and 2 toxicities included stomatitis, alopecia, dyspnea, fatigue, pain, and neuropathy.

Results: The median overall survival was 7.4 months.
