Description:

Patients: This Phase II trial included 87 patients with glioblastoma multiforme. (84 patients were considered assessable.)

Treatment: Treatment consisted of standard cranial radiation therapy plus the chemotherapy drug topotecan (hycamtin).

Toxicity: Toxicities included: neutropenia (there were 44 grade 4 neutropenias), leucopenia, thrombocytopenia (grades 1-4), nausea, vomiting (grades 1-3), hearing loss (grades 1-3), skin toxicity (grades 1-3), pulmonary (grades 1-3), hepatic (grades 1-2), neurologic, and fever.

Results: The median survival for all patients was 9.3 months.
