Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 42 patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma. All patients had their cancer grow after immunotherapy. There were 31 men and 11 women. The median age was 62.5

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs, gemcitabine (gemzar) and oxaliplatin (eloxatin).

Toxicity: There was one episode of grade 4 toxicity, pulmonary embolism. Grade 3 toxicities included anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and neuropathy.

Results: The median overall survival was 9.5 months.
