Description:

Patients:
This study involved 15 relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma patients who had previously received chemotherapy. The median patient age was 64 years; no gender information was provided.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the steroid hormone dexamethasone, the chemotherapy agents ifosfamide, cisplatin, and etoposide, and the biologic therapy agents rituximab (monoclonal antibody for CD20) and bortezomib (a proteasome inhibitor).

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia. Grade 3 nausea, fatigue, and mucositis were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 10 months.

One of the study drugs, bortezomib, was provided by Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
