Description:

Patients: This study involved 29 women with advanced, metastatic, or recurrent breast cancer. The median age was 55 years. All but nine patients had developed an additional metastatic site, which included lung, lymph node, liver, and bone.

Treatment: The treatment involved one chemotherapeutic drug: genetaxyl.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicites included: neutropenia, sensory neurotoxicity, myalgia/arthralgia, leukopenia, and stomatitis.

Results: The median overall survival was 32.4 months; among patients with metastatic disease, the median survival was 24.3 months. There was a better response rate in patients with local disease and those who had not received prior chemotherapeutic treatment.
