Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 26 hepatocellular carcinoma patients, 21 of whom were males. The median patient age was 64 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab in addition to chemoembolization (chemotherapy delivered directly to the tumor) with unspecified drugs.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to bowel perforation and sepsis. Grade 3-4 leukopenia, fatigue, and pain were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 10.8 months.
